REPORTS TO: Director of Development and Communications
STATUS: Full time / Exempt
COMPENSATION: $79,800 annually and competitive benefits
SCHEDULE: Monday-Friday; Hybrid; flexibility and occasional evenings will be required
Position Description: The Development Manager is a key position within the Center’s Development team and is responsible for significant aspects of fundraising in alignment with the Center’s mission, long-term vision, and commitment to racial justice and equity. The Development Manager will be a leader in the organization, representing the SF LGBT Center to donors and partners, securing funds from institutional partners, and coordinating internally to create and take advantage of opportunities that align with the Center’s funding needs.
Essential Job Functions:
External Partnerships

Manage institutional sponsorships and in-kind donations for events including annual Soirée fundraising gala and other fundraising & programmatic events: solicit and secure sponsorships, produce partnership materials, coordinate with funder contacts, and ensure fulfillment of partnership benefits.

Attend monthly Board Fundraising Committee meetings and serve as a liaison between the Development team and committee. Provide Soirée updates to committee including financial reports. Collaborate with board members to secure donations.

Implement live auction and raffle in collaboration with event production contractors.

Represent the Center on calls and at events with external partners. Provide relevant program information and partnership opportunities.
General

Produce compelling content for letters of inquiry, proposals, reports, and other fundraising initiatives.

Collaborate across teams with program and administrative staff to stay up to date on program initiatives, department donation needs, and financial updates.

Maintain donor records in Salesforce with real time updates on donor activity and notes.

Stay abreast of best practices in non-profit fundraising.

Maintain high standards of personal ethics, professionalism, and respectful communication.

Participate in organization-wide racial equity training and activities.

Other duties as assigned.
Supervision & Leadership

Supervise 1 position: Development Associate.

Assist with Development team administration, strategy, and leadership.

Model and cultivate a strong and healthy workplace culture with a whole-person approach to management and supervision. Support a strong and healthy team and incorporate Center values and priorities in team functions and management.
Minimum Qualifications:
-
Commitment to the mission of the SF LGBT Center. Demonstrated ability to work with a broad cross-section of the LGBT community with cultural competency, sensitivity, and responsiveness to its varying needs.

Preferred 3-5 years fundraising experience.

Experience with donor management software/CRM required. Experience in Salesforce strongly preferred.

Excellent administrative skills. Demonstrated proficiency is required in Windows and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word and Outlook.

Must be accurate and detail-oriented and possess strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to prioritize competing priorities in a complex and fast-paced environment. This includes the ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines.

Innovative and entrepreneurial approach including solution-oriented approach to complex issues.

Strong interpersonal relationship skills, customer service skills, and ability to work both independently and within a team.

Must be able to handle sensitive information with tact, diplomacy and discretion.

Fluency in English is required.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
-
This position is primarily office-based at the Center’s 1800 Market Street location with an ability to negotiate a schedule of remote work up to a maximum of 40% time.

Hours are primarily Monday-Friday with occasional evening or weekend work. Work schedules are negotiable within a standard 8:00 am – 7:00 pm window.

Local travel may be required to meetings or offsite events. Out-of-town travel is infrequent and negotiable. No car required.

Essential physical requirements:

Must be able to operate a computer and other common office machinery such as a copier/printer up to eight hours/day daily.

Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of several hours daily.
-
Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.

Must be able to work in a shared office space with 3 or more employees in the same office with moderate levels of noise.
