JOB TITLE:                  SF LGBT Development Assistant      

REPORTS TO:             Director of Development & Communications

STATUS:                      Full-Time/Non-Exempt

COMPENSATION:         $27.45 per/hour, health insurance, paid leave

 

 

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The SF LGBT Center is seeking a dynamic, detail-oriented team player with excellent administrative skills to serve as Development Assistant. This position provides skilled administrative and clerical support to the Center’s fundraising department. Working closely with the Senior Development Associate and Director of Development & Communications, this position is integral to the Center’s fundraising effectiveness. Flexible schedule with some work on nights and weekends for special events expected.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

 

Data Entry & Gift Processing

  • Support Senior Development Associate with ongoing database hygiene projects.
  • Support Senior Development Associate with quality assurance of donations received through Eventbrite and Soapbox.
  • Process and record donations in Salesforce NPSP database.
  • Create check and cash logs.
  • Prepare and disseminate donor acknowledgments.
  • Work with Senior Development Associate to maintain accurate donor records in database.
  • Maintain donor records with real time updates on donor activity and notes.
  • Maintain paper records as needed for reconciliations, audits, and general hard copy history.

 

Project & Event Support

  • Support Development event logistics
  • Support the planning and execution of the Soirée auction and raffle.
  • Assist with coordinating in-kind donations for Soirée, including auction/raffle items, food, and beverages.
  • Assist with coordinating in-kind donations for programs.
  • Assist in the planning, implementation, and staffing of fundraising events, mailings, and campaigns.
  • Provide logistical support, including: purchasing and organizing supplies and materials, and coordinating and conducting pick-ups and deliveries.
  • Support the production of electronic and print materials.

 

General Support

  • Assist department with organizing, inventory and purchasing supplies and materials.
  • Respond to donor inquiries through written correspondence, telephone contact, in-person
  • contact, and e-mail.
  • Comply with fundraising policies and best practices.
  • Maintain high standards of personal ethics, professionalism, and respectful communication.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  1. Preferred 1 year of data entry and/or administrative experience.
  2. Experience with donor management systems preferred but not required. Experience with Salesforce desirable.
  3. Commitment to the mission of the SF LGBT Center. Demonstrated ability to work with a broad cross-section of the LGBT community with cultural competency, sensitivity, and responsiveness to its varying needs.
  4. Excellent administrative skills. Proficiency is required in Microsoft programs including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  5. Extremely organized, efficient, and detailed-oriented with an attention to accuracy.
  6. Strong interpersonal relationship skills, customer service skills, and ability to work both independently and within a team.
  7. Ability to work in a culturally diverse and fast-paced environment.
  8. High standards of personal ethics, professionalism, and respectful communication.
  9. Must be able to handle sensitive information with tact, diplomacy, and discretion.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: 

  • This position is primarily office-based at the Center’s 1800 Market Street location with an ability to negotiate a schedule of remote work up to a maximum of 40% time.
  • Essential physical requirements:
    • Must be able to operate a computer and other common office machinery such as a copier/fax/printer up to eight hours/day daily.
    • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for periods of several hours daily.
    • Must be able to lift to 20 pounds on an occasional basis.
    • Must be able to work in a shared office space with 3 or more employees in the same office with moderate levels of noise.
  • Employees in this position must be able to perform these essential functions satisfactorily, and, if requested, reasonable accommodations will be made to enable employees with disabilities to perform the essential functions of their job.
  • Hours are primarily Monday – Friday with occasional need for evening or weekend work. Work schedules are negotiable within a standard 8:00 am – 7:00 pm window.
  • Local travel may be required to meetings or off-site events. Out-of-town travel is infrequent and negotiable. No car is required.
