Creative Producer - Working Partnerships USA

 Working Partnerships USA is seeking a talented storyteller to lift up the voices of marginalized communities, amplify the power of grassroots organizing, and drive transformative campaigns for economic, social, and racial justice.

 The Creative Producer will craft materials that shift public narratives, from videos to social media graphics and website copy. They will also contribute to our overall communications and digital engagement strategy, whether that’s ensuring our messaging and design is aligned with cultural and industry trends or making sure we are reaching the right audiences.

 The ideal candidate will be a skilled designer, compelling writer and have experience creating multimedia content for a variety of audiences. They will thrive in a fast-paced campaign environment, with the ability to keep multiple projects moving, plan for and hit deadlines, and collaborate with partners both inside and outside the organization. The Creative Producer will report to our Communications Director and work closely with our organizing and policy teams.

 Key Responsibilities:

 Design & Multimedia Content Creation (40%)

  • Design for a range of projects across print and digital, including but not limited to reports, factsheets, infographics, social media graphics, and web video
  • Develop materials that tell the stories of communities centered in our campaigns and programs as well as evergreen material that move the organization’s narrative shift goals forward
  • Support communications team with developing rapid response materials and messaging for campaigns and actions as needed

Social media management (40%)

  • Create and post original content on WPUSA’s social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) especially in an advocacy, electoral, or movement context
  • Curate and share social media content that is relevant to our base and/or uplifts movement allies and keeps WPUSA engaged in conversations around relevant issue

Website design and management (20%)

  • Update and maintain existing organizational websites and microsites, and develop additional microsites when needed

Desired Skills:

As our Creative Lead, you’ll wear many hats. If you’re a quick learner and are excited to pick up new skills, you should apply if you have ~70% of this list:

  • Strong design sense. You care that materials are on brand, easy to read, and convey the right emotions.
  • Experience designing for both print materials (reports, factsheets) and the web (social media, web video, email). You’ve probably used Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Illustrator, or their equivalents.
  • Photography: You can take emotionally powerful photos, and have probably used a DSLR or Mirrorless camera (bonus points if you shoot in manual mode).
  • Video production: You can shoot and edit video, and can use Adobe Premiere, Final Cut Pro, or another editing suite. You think about how to make videos that work well online. Bonus points if you can create motion graphics with After Effects or similar.
  • Ability to break down complex issues, and write quickly and compellingly for a variety of audiences
  • Strong editing skills. You can take two clunky paragraphs and turn them into two crisp, punchy sentences.
  • Basic knowledge of HTML & CSS.
  • Basic knowledge of Google Analytics 4
  • Attention to detail. You’ll catch typos, change hyphens into em dashes, and notice when a color doesn’t match our style guide.
  • Excited to dig into the nuance of language and design, and draw from research and best practices to create compelling visuals and messaging.
  • Commitment to social, racial, economic, environmental, and gender justice.
  • Experience with advocacy organizations, political campaigns, and union or community organizing a plus.
  • Strong work ethic and personal commitment to excellence.

Compensation & Location

Annual salary range for this position is $70,500 - $77,500 and will be based on experience. A generous benefits package is offered including full family health, dental, vision, and acupuncture/chiropractic insurance; paid vacations and holiday leave;  and 401(k) with employer contributions. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position and an excellent opportunity for those seeking career advancement over time.

This position is based in San Jose, California, and is on-site 2-3 days per week and work-from-home 2-3 days per week. Due to the on-the-ground nature of this role (shooting videos, taking photos at actions, etc), you’ll need to be able to regularly attend outdoor events in Santa Clara County (with appropriate safety precautions).
